Financial Aid: STO & Scholarship
If your family is unable to pay the full cost of tuition, there are a couple financial aid opportunities that exist to assist you. For Parish and non-Parish members, the state of Iowa runs the Student Tuition Organization (STO) program, which can potentially pay for part or even all of a student's tuition cost. STO is the single best source of tuition help available to SsMMCS children. For further information, including donating to the STO, please see the link to the state's website in the STO folder to the left, and/or contact Mr. Wilke (Business Manager).
Typically, the STO application process takes place in March/April of the current year. We send home this information and application with our current students. Any returning student applying for Tuition Assistance from the school MUST have an STO application filed for that year or their request will be denied. Certainly a family does not necessarily have to receive funds from the Student Tuition Organization, BUT they MUST have applied for STO to be Eligible for help from the school.
Therefore, thanks to the generosity and/or charitable giving of many donors, the school itself has some scholarship funds that it can award each year to help offset tuition costs. No Parish child will be denied a Catholic education due to the family's inability to pay full tuition. Special arrangements can be made privately with the principal at the August registration or before school starts. All information is confidential.
